A minimum of 18 alleged members from the Maute terror team connected towards the Marawi siege surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Manila yesterday.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II requested the NBI to research the suspects.
The probe is pursuant to an arrest purchase issued by Protection Secretary Delfin Lorenzana towards over one hundred twenty five alleged Maute and Abu Sayyaf terrorists.
Those that surrendered went to the NBI headquarters to clear their names after they were included in the arrest purchase.
They are associates from the Maute and Bandrang family, who stated they were concerned following viewing their names around the list.
Some of the surrenderees arrived from Lanao del Sur, stated attorney Dalomintang Parahiman, regional director from the Nationwide Fee on Muslim Filipinos in South Luzon. The others have been living in a Muslim neighborhood in Quezon City.
Meanwhile, police are back again to dealing with a blank wall within the investigation into the Quiapo twin bombings that still left two individuals lifeless and 6 others wounded on Might 26.
The Manila Law enforcement District (MPD) released yesterday the three suspects within the Might six blasts for insufficient proof. They were Halid Macatanong, fifty one; Aamir Shahzad Khan, and Joanne Palmiano.
MPD director Chief Superintendent Joel Coronel stated they invited the three for questioning on Tuesday following receiving information that they checked right into a lodging house close to the blast website the evening prior to the explosions.
“They had been brought to the MPD headquarters because we experienced information they were current throughout the bombings,” Coronel said.
“But primarily based around the investigation conducted, there’s no evidence to establish that they are linked with the bombings,” he added.
Nevertheless, STAR resources stated that Macatanong, Khan and Palmiano are still becoming held by police.
The MPD is reportedly waiting for the arrest of an additional suspect, Hannah Maurum, prior to they are offered to media.
