Henry Cordero Daut, a proud Mindanaoan who spent 41 years in Marawi City, cited several reasons why he supports the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao.
According to Mr. Daut, 99{71a4304a9763d63afbc79e24c1b22334838396a2a6af92fdbe86aeb2fc765788} are supportive of the action taken by President Rodrigo Duterte who is from Mindanao and understand them better than any politician from Luzon or Visayas island.

A letter to the people living outside of Mindanao
We understand your fears and apprehensions with the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao even if many of you who are complaining were not even born yet when Martial Law was declared in 1972.
We appreciate your “CONCERN” about the effects of this declaration although i can READ BETWEEN THE LINES THAT YOUR CONCERN IS NOT ACTUALLY FOR US IN MINDANAO BUT FOR YOURSELVES outside of Mindanao Particularly in LUZON. the Visayans can fully understand us since we share the same sentiments.
Majority of the people of Mindanao about 98{71a4304a9763d63afbc79e24c1b22334838396a2a6af92fdbe86aeb2fc765788} to my biased estimates since there are also a miniscule {71a4304a9763d63afbc79e24c1b22334838396a2a6af92fdbe86aeb2fc765788} who are opposing such declaration living in this beautiful Island created by God for all to visit, live and work you who are out there included. Maybe what you should do is ask WHY the people of Mindanao support the declaration of Martial Law. because if we will have a survey among the us who agree or disagree on such declaration, you might be surprised that it will turnout to be 99{71a4304a9763d63afbc79e24c1b22334838396a2a6af92fdbe86aeb2fc765788} are supportive of the action taken by our dear President who is from Mindanao and understand us better than you or any politician from your island. And by the way, when i say survey, i mean asking all the people to answer your questionnaire and not the same style of selective samples that your biased media and leaders are doing to justify their own interests.
As a Mindanaoan who spent my 54 years living in the island and my 41 beautiful and fruitful years in Marawi City, here are some of the reasons why i/we support the Declaration of Martial Law:
1. We trust our President in his decision because we believe in him as our leader whose only objective is for the greater good of the people of Mindanao. (By the way, whatever positive results that will come out from this declaration will benefit not only Mindanao but also you in Luzon).
2. We support him because, we believe that the FAILURES OF THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATIONS (particularly the yellow leader that you are supporting) to curb, stop, eradicate, solve, eliminate, control, neutralize, etc… is being addressed by OUR VERY OWN PRESIDENT WHO IS ALSO YOUR PRESIDENT and that make us ONE in supporting him (i supposed you do).
3. We have lived here for a long time that we call Mindanao our Home despite the problems and concerns of diversity in culture and beliefs but are living harmoniously and we want our HOME to be peaceful and progressive.
4. We respect each others culture and beliefs and we are promoting Unity amidst Diversity to make Mindanao truly a Land of Promise Fulfilled.
5. Marawi City and lanao del Sur is one of the most beautiful places God has created – Lake Lanao that provides power and Lights to the people of Mindanao; Lake Lanao as a source of life and livelihood for our Meranaw Brothers and sisters;
6. Marawi City is HOME to the MINDANAO STATE UNIVERSITY – the hope of the youth of Mindanao for inexpensive but high quality education. MSU Main Campus in Marawi City as a social laboratory for socio-cultural integration, peace and untiy among peoples of divers cultures, beliefs and socio-economic status.

7.we believe in the GOODNESS of the MEARANOS and they are our brothers and sister living in peace and working for peace. They too wanted to have peace in the island just as you want too..
8. We are NOT afraid of MARTIAL LAW because we are law abiding citizens and ONLY those with bad intentions will be afraid and will not like it.
9. We are at war with terrorism and we are willing to support our PRESIDENT if this is the best way to end this problem.
10. WE ENCOURAGE THE HUMAN RIGHTS GROUPS AND THOSE WHO OPPOSED THE DECLARATION OF MARTIAL LAW IN MINDANAO TO SERVE THE COUNTRY BY JOINING THE FIGHT OF OUR ARMED FORCES AGAINST TERRORISM AND STAYING IN THE FRONT LINE TO OFFER YOUR BODIES AS SHIELDS TO PROTECT OUR MILITARY PERSONNEL SO THEY CAN CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR US. WE NEED YOUR INTELLIGENCE TO ANALYZE THE SITUATION HERE IN MINDANAO WHILE YOU JOIN HANDS IN PROTESTING THE DECLARATION OF MARTIAL LAW. PLEASE INCLUDE THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE RALLYING TO PLEASE COME HERE IN MARAWI AND CONDUCT YOUR RALLIES HERE TO CONVINCE THE TERRORISTS TO STOP SO THAT MARTIAL LAW WILL NOT BE DECLARED/LIFTED.
11. WE RECOMMEND THAT THE CURRICULUM OF DEPED AND CHED FOR LUZON INCLUDE A COURSE ON “THE HISTORY OF THE MUSLIMS IN THE PHILIPPINES” authored by Dr. Cesar Majul so you will have a better understanding and appreciation of the history of our people in Mindanao
12. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO HAVE MUSLIM FRIENDS SO YOU WILL HAVE A FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE OF HOW IT IS TO BE A FRIEND OF A MUSLIM AND HOW YOU SHOULD DEAL WITH THEM. YOU WILL BE SURPRISED THAT THEY CAN BE BETTER THAN YOUR USUAL OTHER FRIENDS.
13. THIS FIGHT IS NOT ABOUT RELIGION BUT ABOUT PEACE FOR ALL REGARDLESS OF BELIEFS AND CULTURES.
14. IF YOU HAVE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY, JUST POST ENCOURAGEMENTS AND PRAYERS. IT WILL BE MORE APPRECIATED.
BY THE WAY, THIS IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHOSE VIEWS ARE CONTRARY TO WHAT WE ARE FIGHTING FOR. WE HAVE MANY FRIENDS FROM LUZON WHO UNDERSTAND AND EMPATHIZE WITH US.
