Everybody can be a victim of war. It is not just about how the government forces attack the terrorists or how the rebels would defend their hide-out. More than the bullets fired and the grenades were thrown, there are more to these brutal battles that wound the heart and soul of every victim. Lost lives and shattered dreams can be someone’s nightmare. Losing someone you love in a battle is a tragic and painful experience especially when there are promises left to be fulfilled and feelings left unspoken. The ongoing war in Marawi City already wounded many soldiers and their loved ones. With the country’s fallen hero comes their special someone who hoped to see them alive after the dangerous battle but then failed to do so as these soldiers became the collateral damage of this bloody war. Among them is ABS-CBN’s news reporter, Chiara Zambrano.
Chiara Zambrano shared on her Facebook account a heartwarming post dedicated for a soldier who left her a special message before leaving for the war in Marawi City. Chiara named her hero as Technical Sergeant Tap Dinglasan who was a Marine soldier who fought against the terrorists to take control of Mapandi Bridge in Marawi City.
She shared that he left her a promise but unfortunately, he would not be able to fulfill this because the war already took away his life.
Many Filipinos were moved to tears by Chiara’s post as they felt that it was supposed to be a happy-ending love story yet the war took its turn and made everything fall into pieces. Indeed, this story from Chiara’s journey reminds us that love is still powerful than war.
