Arestado Ang Pinakamatapang Na Membro Ng Maute Group Hindi Nakapalag Sa Mga Sundalo

MARAWI CITY, Philippines – Troopers have arrested sixteen suspected members of the terrorist Maute Team greater than a week following the terrorists laid siege on Marawi City.

An intelligence officer of the Philippine Marines, who requested to not be named, said the men had been arrested along the Agus River near the Banggolo Bridge.

“They swam throughout the river. They’re under investigation,” the maritime officer said, including that authorities require to verify their identities.

The media had been prohibited from interviewing the men.

The marines herded the media to a corner of the street, saying the police will move by and so they required the street cleared.

Guarded by the marines in the 5th Landing Battalion team, the men had been fetched inside a mosque by the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Regional Public Battalion.

Shirtless and handcuffed with their heads coated with clothes, the suspects were transported by a convoy of police cars.

In the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the boys were processed and put below investigation.

The maritime officer stated they tried speaking with the boys, who claimed to be construction workers trapped in Dansalan Junior College Marawi City.

The marines happen to be keeping ground in and across the Banggolo Bridge, a vital passage that took government almost per week to get back from the extremists.

Meanwhile, at least 182 trapped residents of Marawi City had been rescued overnight by security forces along with a group of the provincial government’s disaster commitee on Friday, June 2.

Some citizens trapped in the combat zone have also recounted the daring escape of swimming the Agus River to remain alive.
