A lot of opinions and views about the burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani was shared on social media.
But one of the best statements was from Laurie Leslie Lee Tan.
She started about the children who were used to rally. She said that children were blinded and products of manipulation and lies.
“Do not engage children in adult matters. They do not understand. But they will blindly follow,” she said.
“You see those students rallying on the streets, crying and howling? Products of years of manipulation and lies,” she added.
She also said that she looked up to Ninoy before and thought that Ninoy would have been a great president, better than Marcos.
But as she grew up, she also learned about Marcos and she got confused.
Before she ends her statement, she said that Marcos is not a hero but asked, “Is he really as evil as he is painted to be?”
Read her full statement below:
“Do not engage children in adult matters. They do not understand. But they will blindly follow. You see those students rallying on the streets, crying and howling? Products of years of manipulation and lies. Ako, sa tutoo Lang, I looked up to Ninoy before. I really thought he would have been a great president, better than Marcos. Then as I grew older, I also learned more about Marcos. About Ninoy. Naconfuse ako. Today, I am not so sure of what I know anymore. When I reach that point, I took a step back and re-evaluated. Who writes the history anyway? There is always two sides of a coin. Who gets to write which side is true? Yes, Marcos not hero. Period. Established. But. Is he really as evil as he is painted to be? To what extent are his abuses and corruption? To what extent has he been demonized? Kaya sa tutoo Lang, no comment ako sa LNMB. I leave it to the law to dictate that fate.”
