DOT Sec. Tugade slams Rappler: “Gago talaga, Check your facts!”

Department of Transportation Secretary Art Tugade on Wednesday issued a statement on claims of outgoing US ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg about his “unpublicized China trip” in June 2016.

The story where Goldberg made the claim was published in Rappler.com, and Tugade was not asked for a confirmation before the news was published.

Tugade denied the claims.

Tugade also lashed on Rappler for not confirming their facts.

“Gago talaga” he said as he shared his text message to the news site.

“If it is true that Ambassador Goldberg said that, then the fabled American

“intelligence network” has miserably failed again. Tsismis yan! Was never in Beijing in June! You can always examine my passport anytime.” the test message, which was shared on Nic Gabunda’s Facebook, wrote.

Rappler responded by saying they will include the denial in their report.

Golberg was quoted as saying that he is aware that Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade made a trip to China last June even before President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent state visit to Beijing.

He said this later on led to the increase of China’s investment and loan pledges to the Philippines.
