Sec. Taguiwalo responded to Duterte critics who accused DSWD for doing nothing to help the victims of LawinPH

Two Duterte critics accused DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo of attending the state visit of President Duterte in China while the Philippines was devastated by Super Typhoon Lawin.

But the DSWD Secretary clarified that she’s not with the President’s party in China. Secretary Taguiwalo said on her post Friday, that she’s working with the members of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council since October 14 before the landfall of the Super Typhoon.

This is the full statement of Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo

“I am not with the President’s party in China. I have been working with the members of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council since the various government agencies went on red alert on October 14 with the impending arrival of Karen and then supertyphoon Lawin.

I am now in Cagayan working closely with the DSWD Field Office in Region 2 and with local government officials to ensure that assistance is promptly provided to our kababayans who have been badly hit by the strong winds of Lawin and the flooding of rice lands due to the swelling of the waters of the Cagayan River.”

A photo from the DSWD Sec’s fanpage would prove that the Duterte critics accusations were wrong. The photo shows DSWD Judy Taguiwalo personally visited the victims of Typhoon Lawin.
