Reacting to an article that says Senator Leila De Lima considers being imprisoned as a “price to pay,” former interior and local government secretary Raffy Alunan III said that the lady senator is merely “dramatizing” her impending conviction.
The Philippine Star reported that De Lima said, “If the loss of my freedom is the price I have to pay for standing up against the butchery of the Duterte regime, then it is a price I am willing to pay.”
According to Alunan, De Lima would not have lost her freedom until she is found guilty and be incarcerated “for a long, long time” for her alleged involvement in the drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison.
He also speculated that De Lime is trying “desperately” evading justice. And that she is part of an elaborate plot and scheme to oust President Rodrigo Duterte who won the presidency with a landslide 16 million votes.
Alunan said, “She’s overdramatizing and diverting attention away from her involvement in narco-politics and other acts of moral turpitude to desperately evade justice.”
“If the loss of my freedom is the price I have to pay for standing up against the butchery of the Duterte regime, then it is a price I am willing to pay,” Sen. Leila de Lima said. — That’s a deceitful statement.
I think the correct version is that she will be arrested on charges that she broke the law so that she could face trial and, if found guilty, will be incarcerated for a long, long time. That would be the right time to say that she lost her freedom. Don’t you think?
She’s overdramatising and diverting attention away from her involvement in narco-politics and other acts of moral turpitude to desperately evade justice. And she’s believed to be part of a sinister agenda – that includes foreign manipulators and a discredited attack dog – to oust Du30 presumably to continue where they left off in the world of drugs, crime and corruption.
