Bautista skips LP dinner to visit Bongbong in Ilocos

Embattled Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista reportedly skipped the scheduled dinner prepared by officers of Liberal Party  on Sunday night, one of poll chief’s aide said on Monday.

Bautista, together with other three COMELEC officials, reportedly visited former Senator Bongbong Marcos on Sunday. The secret visit only realized by the media hours after Bautista left Marcos’ house in  Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
According to the source, Bautista was supposed to attend a dinner party, but for some reason, he did not show-up. The group later told that Bautista spent night in Baguio City after he left Marcos several hours earlier.
Bautista is not a member of Liberal Party as poll executives should be non-partisan, but he is closed to party officials, especially former President Benigno Aquino III, Mar Roxas, and Leni Robredo, who were all present at the dinner party.
“Siguro napaka importante yong nilakad niya”, the source said.
The poll chief have been advised by his colleagues to let go of his position, but he earlier asked to give him more time to contemplate.
Bautista is facing controversy over his alleged ill-gotten wealth as reported by his estranged wife – Patricia Bautista.
Both Bautista and Marcos did not give a single comment about their meeting.
Marcos has a pending poll protest case against the sitting Vice President Maria Leonor “Lenie” Robredo.
