Atom Araullo to make an acting debut; set to star in Mike De Leon film

ABS-CBN broadcast/journalist Atom Araullo is set to star in a comeback film of critically-acclaimed director Mike De Leon.

According to entertainment columnist Noel Ferrer, Araullo has agreed to star in the movie Citizen Jake because of the Master Filmmaker (De Leon). Citizen Jake refers to “the world of citizen journalists, social media and politics” which the director described as “hybrid film of sorts”.
De Leon whose works include unforgettable masterpieces like Batch ‘81, Kisapmata, Itim, Sister Stella L, Kakabakabakaba, Kung Mangarap Ka’t Magising, and Bayaning Third World in 2000 will start filming next year – 2017.
“I have a real journalist playing a fictional journalist in an investigative crime story with political overtones,” De Leon said.

For Atom’s part, who would have thought that he who has retired his reportorial job in ABS-CBN, would try an acting job? Before becoming one of the youngest top journalist in the country, Atom was a graduate of BS Applied Physics at the Univeristy of the Philippines.
