Eat Bulaga host Paolo Ballesteros bagged the Best Festival Actor in Tokyo International Film Festival for his portrayal of a transgender in the movie “Die Beautiful”
Paolo himself announced the good news on his Instagram account on Thursday.
Paolo was teary-eyed when he accepted the award while wearing his Julia Roberts look.
Die Beautful is a comedy-drama film which tells the story of a Filipino trans-woman whose dying wish is to be dressed as Lady Gaga for her funeral. The wish sparks fierce battle between her conservative Filipino-Chinese family and her drag queen friends.
Written and directed by Jun Robles Lana, the movie also stars Diana Zubiri, Inah De Belen, and Iza Calzado. The movie is yet to open in cinemas locally.
