Senator Cayetano confirms P50,000 Minimum Salary for Cops Ready Before Christmas

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano announced Sunday that Philippine National Police can get an increase of 50,000 pesos minimum salary before Christmas.

The Senator is confident that the promise of President Duterte during the campaign would be given to the cops.

“It’s very doable so if we have a supportive House of Representatives and Senate, merong pera, as early as before Christmas, maibibigay na natin ito sa ating mga pulis,” Senator Cayetano said.

He explained that the current salary of the cops is not enough to survive the cost of living in Metro Manila.

“Kung 20{904c1d5c9edfa7b60df405186e386223ee710515cee17af9c85f0d108f882f94} ang buwis, P40,000 iuuwi mo. Ang cost of living sa Metro Manila 35,000. 35,000 tatlong anak mo, tamang tama lang yun sa pagkain, pa gamot, at pag aaral, bahay,” Cayetano added.

During the campaign, President Duterte and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano promised that in 3 years, cops will have a P75,000 to P100,000 base salary that may stop the police officials to do something illegal just to earn enough money to feed their family.

The current salary of an PO1 is only 15,000 a month.

On June 13, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano said that he would push the salary increase in Congress.
