Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday said that the House justice committee only insulted and Senator Leila de Lima by feasting on witness Ronnie Dayan, asking irrelevant questions about his affair with her.
Professor of Political Science Antonio Contreras responde to this by saying that the wife of Dayan must also be a concern.
He questioned Leni’s statement by asking whether the Vice President aso thinks of Dayan’s legal wife.
“Does she ever think about the plight of the legal wife? The one whose womanhood was also assaulted by the philandering act of her husband in cahoots with his concubine?”
“How is it that Leni only comes to the rescue of the other woman? Has she become their champion and other women become her constituency?”
Reading the articles about the hearing, Robredo said most of the questions thrown at Dayan were unnecessary.
“May mga nadaanan ako na questions na hindi na relevant sa kaso. Kami kasi mga public officials iyong mga buhay namin open book naman pero tiningnan ko online iyong mga tanong parang ano iyon, totally unneccessary, bastos na talaga ang iba,” she said.
One of the questions Dayan was asked was regarding the “intensity” of his seven-year relationship with the senator and their alleged sex video.
Robredo said it was a form of harassment against De Lima.
““Sa tingin ko, oo. It is a form of harassment kung susundan natin natin ang mga tanong. Wala talaga siyang relevance sa investigation na kino-conduct. Parang nangyari talaga slut-shaming. Pambabastos talaga,” she said.
“Ang aking paniniwala, kasi halimbawa ang lawmakers, mas mataas dapat ang expectation kasi tinitingala natin, they are supposed to represent us. So pag hinahayaan natin na ganoon ang actuations ng mga tinitingala natin, parang binibigyan natin ng lisensya ang ordinaryong mamamayan na ganoon din ang gawin,” she added.
