President Duterte to stop govt’s ‘stupid’ rule asking funds from farmers for farm tractors

During the launch of the Comprehensive Reform and Development Agenda for the Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao and other conflict areas in Region 9, 10 and 12 on Saturday, October 29, President Rodrigo Duterte criticized the practice of mandating farmers group to provide a counterpart fund to be able to get tractors from the government.

“Kind of stupid at hindi ko talaga maintindihan. Why would you come up with a program which would be asking a counterpart? Binibigyan mo na nga kasi mahirap,” Duterte said.

Duterte also praised Agriculture Sec. Emmanuel Pinol whom he described as “good” who “means well for his fellowmen.”

“Wala yan siyang ano ano, wala kaming ano, bigotry na ganitong tribu, Ilokano. Pareho kami niyan. Wala. Diretso diretso ang tingin namin sa kapwa tao namin,” the President said.

“Sabi niya na ‘pag binigyan mo ‘yung farmer ng isang tractor ‘yung cooperative they have to raise a certain amount as a counterpart. Sabi ko talaga itong gobyerno loko loko kaya talagang gulo ang ating bayan,” he said.

“Maski ako, bakit ka maghingi ng counterpart sa farmer na walang pera–wala ngang pagkain eh? Oh, how can he put up a share of his counterpart. Sabi ko ipamigay niyo yan,” Dutete said.

“So the next acquisition yung mga tractor eh it’s a very small one hindi naman yung tractor nakikita mo doon sa construction. But it’s a farm tractor and I will buy more and I will give everybody their fair share,” he said.

“Ang problema lang pagdating ko doon sa dealer pag-uwi ko nandoon na yung naibigay ko. Pinagbili na. Diyan tayo magkakaproblema,” Duterte said.
