Proposed bridge, rail systems connecting Visayas to Mindanao approved by President Duterte

President Rody Duterte is indeed true to his promise of easing the lives of Filipinos as his administration plans a very ambitious project under his term, a proposed PPP project that will connect four provinces in the Visayas by bridges with a rail component all the way to Mindanao.

Presidential Adviser on Legislative affairs and concurrent head of the Presidential Legislative Liaison Office, Adelino Sitoy revealed the plans of the Duterte admin, a PPP proposal for the construction of bridges with railway component.

The bridge and rail system of Pres. Duterte linking the provinces of Visayas to Mindanao will link the following places:

Negros Oriental to Cebu
Cordova, Cebu to Getafe, Bohol
Carlos P. Garcia, Bohol to Maasin City, Southern Leyte

Based upon the PPP proposal, the railroad will bring a lot of benefits because travel will be faster as noted by Adelino Sitoy.

Pres. Duterte’s presidential adviser on Legislative Affairs also noted that a lot of passengers can avail this ease of connection and transport of products will be cheaper; tourism and economy in the Visayas will also get a boost since several islands will be connected.

The former Mayor of Cordova town in Mactan island, Adelino Sitoy was elected as Vice Mayor during the 2016 election but he quit after he was appointed by Pres. Duterte to his new position under the Duterte admin.

Sitoy also added that the proposed bridge and railway system was already presented to Pres. Dutere and he approved the project in principle but asked to refer it to Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade.
